Organization History & Mission
The MinKwon Center for Community Action was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community. Since our founding, we have made a profound presence through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and cultural awareness. The MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our marginalized community members, including youth, elderly, recent immigrants, low-income residents, and limited-English-proficient residents.
The MinKwon Center for Community Action is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Grant Writer. The Grant Writer plays a critical role in securing funding to sustain and expand our direct service, advocacy, and organizing efforts. This position is responsible for drafting compelling grant proposals, managing proposal timelines, coordinating input from staff and partners, and ensuring all deadlines and submission requirements are met.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, an organized project manager, and passionate about social justice.

● Funder Communications: Build and maintain positive relationships with funders through correspondence, calls, and participation in site visits and/or funder meetings.
● Project Manage Grant Timelines: Manage a comprehensive grants calendar with deadlines for proposals, reports, and renewals; ensure all internal stakeholders are informed and reports are completed on time.
● Research and Data Gathering: Gather program data, outcomes, and stories from staff to strengthen proposals and funder communications, including but not limited to annual reports, funder presentations, and other organizational profile-raising materials.
● Maintain Grant Records: Update grant tracking systems with deadlines, submission status, and funder communications.

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
● Proven experience writing and managing grants for nonprofits (advocacy or community organizing experience preferred).
● Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
● Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
● Collaborative and proactive communicator; able to coordinate input from multiple team members.
● Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office; familiarity with grant tracking tools a plus.
The MinKwon Center will accept applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled . Due to the high volume of applications, the MinKwon Center will only contact applicants who have been selected for an interview.
